11 Best Kid-Friendly Shooting Games | Age 3 – 12

As time passes the video games are becoming more focused on the adult audience in place of their original one. Yes, I am talking about the children who were originally supposed to enjoy these games. These days games mainly focus on teenagers and adult gamers who have somewhat chosen gaming as their career. In this era, good video games for kids are pretty rare and they will become more difficult to find as time passes.

This happened to me also. I’m in my 20’s and my cousin-brother is 9 this year. One day, I was playing Fortnite on my gaming laptop and watched me silently for 1 hour. I gave him the controls, he loved whatever roaming or wandering you could say he did in the game. So, I tried to find a shooting game for him which is not complicated, has good graphics (from kids’ perspective), not too much blood (If there isn’t any then it’s the best), etc.

But to my surprise, I found very few and that too not matching all my requirements. Some of them were complex, some have too much blood, and things like that. So I decided to share my findings with other people searching for “Kid friendly shooting games”.

What are the best Kid friendly shooting games?

The 3 best kid-friendly shooting games are Journey To The Savage Planet, Plants Vs. Zombies, and Metroid Prime.

Kid Friendly Shooting Games List

  1. Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2
  2. Overwatch
  3. Portal
  4. Journey To The Savage Planet
  5. Destiny
  6. Metroid Prime
  7. Lovely Planet (Tough)
  8. Plants Vs. Zombies 1
  9. Pirate Blast
  10. Shooty Fruity
  11. Cuphead

I will discuss everything I know about these shooting games. The first thing to know that shooting games contain mostly blood, but I have tried to keep that out of the picture. Still, some of them have a little amount of blood spill which is necessary as per the game’s plot. But, I would recommend that someone adult should be with them while playing those games.

So now let’s jump right into our list of kid-friendly shooting games.

Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2

This is the second installment in the series of Plants versus Zombies. This game is loved by all similarly, there are hardly any haters of this game. Plant versus Zombies is loved by serious gamers, casual gamers, adults, teens, and children.

In this game, you have to literally plant trees and defend your garden against a horde of Zombies. You get various types of plants like energy boosters, shooting plants, machine guns, landmines, etc.

One thing you will definitely love in this game is the music I am personally a fan of the music. It’s very catchy and melodious you can save it as your ringtone.

In the second part you have evolved from saving your garden to time and space there are many new themes like pyramids of Egypt, pirate ships, spaceships, etc.

This is a lovely game you should try it trust me on this.

Plant Vs Zombies 2

Overwatch

Overwatch is more suited to kids of 12 years of age because this game has some complex handling and team gameplay. In this game, there are two teams of 6 players each and they both have different areas whom they have to defend against each other. It is one of the best first-person shooting games for the kids on the list.

There are some scenes in which there is blood but nothing too much which a 12-year-old can’t handle.

Although I would suggest that you should always be present when your kids are playing this game because sometimes things get messy.

Overwatch

Portal

In this game you don’t have to shoot anyone or anything you just have to shoot portals, isn’t that nice for your kid. This is more of a puzzle game but this is one of the best puzzle games with some shooting in it.

You have different scenarios and puzzles that you have to solve and proceed further in the game. If you love a few Puzzles with shooting then this game is for you and your kid just try it once and I am sure you will love it.

Portal_

Journey To The Savage Planet

I think Journey To The Savage Planet should be renamed a Savage Ba**ard Visits A Nice Planet. You’ve crash-landed on an alien world, where most of the creatures are minding their own business. Until you, a space a-hole, come along and start slapping them into goo or kicking them into horrible buzzsaw machines.

It’s all in aid of fixing your spaceship, which is as good an excuse as any to mayhem and murder. Or feed creatures chemicals until they guff out crafting materials. It looks like a survival game at the outset, but it’s more of an action shooter genre game.

It has beautiful visuals and a creative environment. If you want something involving space creators and Aliens then you should try this one, you and your kids will definitely like it.

Journey to Savage planet

Destiny 2

This one has one of the most beautiful storylines and single-player campaigns so you and your kids are gonna love it. This game is fully focused on space fights and the whole gameplay is in space planets and unknown environments.

This game keeps you hooked up to the story. This is also a little bit Complex so I would say that you should assist your kids while playing it. Its age rating is 13+ but you can have your 11 or 12-year-old kid play while assisting them in starting. You should avoid letting them play on their own because it has some graphic scenes which could baffle them.

Destiny 2

Metroid Trilogy

This Trilogy contains Metroid Prime: Game Start, Metroid Prime: Echoes, and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Taking all three together it is 80 hours of beautiful gameplay and it is available for $49 that is not much for 3 games.

This is a space battle game and you are represented as a Bounty Hunter who travels across space. This is one of the old-school bounty hunting shooting games and one of the best FPS shooting games from earlier days. This is a win-win deal for you and your kid, you both will enjoy it together.

Metroid Trilogy

Lovely Planet (Colourful)

The lovely planet is a Japanese theme-based first-person shooting game. It is developed by an Indian programmer in collaboration with Quick Tequila Studios. On first look, you will notice its extremely appealing visual graphics and catchy music. Its cute tone will definitely be liked by your kid. It’s basically a jumping and shooting game with different levels.

At each level, you get stars and points which you can see on a scoreboard and compare with other players. This game doesn’t have any blood scenes or something that your child can’t handle, so this is one of the best shooting games for your kid to start with.

Lovely Planet

Plant Vs. Zombies 1

This is the first part in the plant versus zombie series it was released in 2009 by PopCap games. It falls in pop shooter games and third-person shooter games. In this game, you have to save your garden from the wave of zombies by planting various kinds of trees like peashooters, landmines, cannons, and some energy charges such as sunflower plants.

This game has a melodious soundtrack and Zombies are not too cruel they are just graphic cartoon types. So your kids will not have a problem with them and it is best for kids between 5 to 7 years of age. Although it is played and loved by gamers of every category.

Plant vs Zombies 1

Pirate Blast

This one may prove a little bit confusing for your kid at first but it can be solved with an adult’s interference. The problematic things are its map choosing and understanding which things take health.

When you get those things right then it is a piece of cake. In this game, you have to shoot characters with a jet of water flowing continuously, and they throw cupcakes and other items towards you which causes health damage.

This game doesn’t involve any blood spilling or any scene that could prove problematic for small children.

Pirate Blast

Shooty Fruity

This is the only VR game we have included in our list for shooting games for kids we have included this one because it is very popular among kids.

There are Zombie-infested fruits like Banana, guava, watermelon, etc. which come at you with fiery eyes and you have to shoot them with the guns provided to you. This game is soothing and doesn’t contain any violent scenes so it is perfect for your kid.

Still, be cautious to not let them play for longer hours as VR games are not so good for the eyes especially for the little ones.

Shooty Fruity VR

Cuphead

Maybe this game is not for children, but I included this one because it looks like the one for the children’s shooting game list.

Cuphead is based on ’90s animation-style gameplay with children’s favorite characters similar to mickey mouse, tom, and jerry but they are not them. In my view, this game is a little bit too difficult for the little kids.

This game has no checkpoint, no way to replenish health, etc. These things prove to be frustrating after two to three times. So I will suggest that although it looks children friendly it will be best if we stay away from it until necessary.

Cuphead

Conclusion

I hope that I helped you in finding a perfect shooting game for your kid, that you and your kid both can enjoy to your heart’s content.

Thank You.
