Rockman EXE Operate Shooting Star Review: Megaman Star Force is a game that defined our childhood. It was the first Megaman game that we ever played. I would go on about it. That’s when I decided to Play the rest of the Megaman series.
It’s been quite some time from the release of last Megaman game. The latest game in this series launched is named as “Rockman EXE Operate Shooting Star”. In this post I’ll Spread my love for this series to you. I’ll be reviewing Rockman EXE Operate Shooting Star for you guys.
Rockman EXE Operate Shooting Star Review
Introduction
This game falls into the genre of Action-RPG (Role Playing Game). Megaman EXE Operate Shooting Star was first teased in a Tokyo game fare and was finally released in November 2009. It is a famous series developed and produced by CAPCOM.
As the title suggests it has connections with both the Battle Network series and Star Force. I think this mixture of two games is quite enjoyable and loved by all.
Take a look at the box art pretty cool right. 10-year old me would proudly didn’t trade in his copy at a local Gamestop thought so as well, and had his parents got him a copy for Christmas.

Release
Initially, it was teased at a Game fair in Japan and was liked by many gamers. It was too hyped for its release. Finally, it got released in November 2009. But, there was one problem it got released in Japan only.
I (10 year old me) literally spend 10 minutes online learning Japanese, to curse them for this behavior. But, unfortunately, it didn’t happen. Neither I succeeded in learning Japanese nor Rockman EXE Operate Shooting Star released outside Japan for some time.
Little poor me could only calm myself by watching little clips online. At that time there were no walkthroughs or gameplay footage also, just how sad that time was.
Now we are in 2020, now human civilization is quite advanced. So advanced that they released an unofficial English language patch for Rockman EXE Shooting Star. Finally, my inner child could rest himself.

Gameplay
The game shouldn’t really be classified as a crossover. The whole game is just a part of Megaman battle network 1 with an included side story. The side story seemed like it was shoehorned in at the last minute. It does not affect the main story in any way.
It is really short and built up only for it to be nothing more than small fanservice. After the events of Star Force 3 Geo’s friend Sonya is kidnapped by a Navi called clock man geo manages to travel 200 years into the past to Lana Curry’s time.
He time-traveled with the help of Professor Good’ll in order to save her. The only problem is that he’s stuck in there. He will be free when he’s able to find Sonya and destroy Clock Man. So if by chance he went to the wrong time period he’s seriously f***ed, he’s just screwed.
Anyhow that’s really about it. There is some funny dialogue shared between Gio and LAN. Clock Man’s fight is pretty cool. But the whole fight sequence is like 30 minutes max and doesn’t even happen until about 6 hours into the game. Do you think that’s fun I don’t that the game really needs to be just supportive?
The first battle game, sure I’m glad the first game got ported to the DS. But if you’re not gonna bother port the other games or release them to the west. Then there’s no point this is almost misleading in every sense.
The only other unique thing about operation shooting star is Star Coliseum. Which is sh*t and worthless unless you get other people to play with you. Who would have thought such a cool idea could end up being so shallow.

4th Game in Series
Before leaving you guys to curse this game let’s talk about 4th part. Yeah believe it or not a fourth game was actually in production. It was in development from 2009 up until 2010. However due to the poor sales of StarForce 3 and shockingly! Rockman EXE Operate Shooting Stars poor sales having an effect as well.
The game was canceled midway into its development it wouldn’t even be known that this game existed until somewhere around 2019. When a single piece of concept art and details were leaked. The premise of the game involved hacking and was going to be more mature-themed.
Even though StarForce 3 is undoubtedly the most mature game in the franchise. It would have been really interesting to see how they approached this game. One of the new characters is a descendant of Hikari. They both are being hunted after the Sotelo police. I mean how cool the concept is it that Megaman going against society by hacking with his new partner.

Conclusion
Since Megaman Star Force is dead, Megaman Battle Network is dead, Megaman himself is dead. It’s unlikely we’ll ever see this fourth game or anything to do with these franchises ever again. Thanks, CAPCOM well that’s it for Star Force.
Such a shame, I mean like I previously said it’s an overlooked franchise. It is really fun and engaging and if you haven’t played the first three games yet you’re really doing yourself a disservice.
After spending some time on production on the Megaman series 4th part, CAPCOM decides to drop it. This decision was made after seeing the bad results of the previous two parts of the series.
No, the initial release of Rockman EXE Operate Shooting Star was made in Japan only. After 10 years an English patch of the game was released.
That’s it for the Megaman EXE Operate Shooting Star review. I don’t have any more words to say about it. Hope you have found this review helpful. If so then share it with your friends and leave a comment below.
